The American Seniors Association is a fairly new organization that is basically the product of the ongoing health care debate.
The ASA claims to be the conservative alternative to the AARP and anti-Obamacare saying that Obamacare is expensive and oppressive. The AARP’s support of Obamas health care reform has angered so many of its members that the AARP has reported losing 50-60,000 members since the beginning of July (this was written on July 11th).
The ASA has partnered with various organizations like the Tea Party Patriots, American Family Association, Americans for prosperity, and the National Rifle Association. They also offer benefits for being a member of their organization such as discounts for prescriptions and insurance, identity protection, all the way to pet insurance and funeral assist.
Although the AARP has lost so many members and the ASA is gaining in popularity the AARP is a massive organization and this is not the first time something like this has happened to them. Although the growth of an opposing organization could have future implications.
