This is actually very true. Texas is considered the 2nd most popular place to retire. Retirement income is not taxed and there is no income tax. There is a sales tax of 6.25 percent which usually comes up to 8.25 percent because of the 2 percent limit of local sales tax and there are exemptions for people 65 or older on property taxes. Veterans have tax exemptions and there is no inheritance tax. The estate tax is limited and related to the federal estate tax collection. Along with Texas’s warm climate (a little hot during the summer), active communities and sprawling hill country it is a great place to retire.
